Button fastest after 3rd practise

Jenson Button again this morning was amongst the top runners in the final practise session for the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix.  Ahead of qualifying, Button finished the session first with a 1min 40.625s, which was only 0.002 seconds ahead of the McLaren of Lewis Hamilton.  Rubens Barrichello rounded off the top three with a 1min 40.907.

The session started out with a lot of teams doing laps before it entered a lull.  At one point the Red Bulls were near the top of the timesheets however by the end of the session Vettel and Webber had dropped back to 11th and 15th respectively.

Toro Rosso suffered mixed fortunes with Sebastian Buemi finishing the session fourth with a time of 1 min 40.934s, which was only 0.309s slower than Button’s fastest time.  However Jaime Alguersuari didn’t set a time after mechanical problems limited his running.

BMW had a good session with Nick Heidfeld finishing fifth fastest with a time of 1min 41.241s.  This came after Heidfeld was heard on the team radio expressing his despair when he said he couldn’t understand how his team mate Robert Kubica was doing a faster time.

Qualifying should be interesting, with McLaren and Brawn looking like they will occupy most of the first six slots on the grid.
